Our first day of Special Programmes 2008
Every Saturday 1 Nov - 21 December 2008

Our first day of class! Despite being surprised by fire drills and worried about lifts thatdidn't work and no possible way up by escalator (yes, they were under repair too) our first Visual Arts class - Circle of Life - started off on-time and produced many paperbag "monsters". The children learnt how to create different brush-strokes, creating first the background, then pasting monster eyes and ears (or hair) onto their paperbags. As the children painted, four girls were excitedly trying on shoes, leotards and skirts for the ballet class. When they had finally found their fitting outfit, they were so pleased with how they looked that they exclaimed, "I look like a princess!" And indeed they did. So we began then to teach them to dance like princesses and curtsey like a princess. "No dancing hippos in this class please," warned Ms Jaime Pang, our Ballet teacher with a joking smile on her face. The girls squealed in delight and followed the fairy circle round and round the room. As the little ballerinas took their bows, the Visual Arts class released 10 children who had completed their paperbag monsters! With these furry and long-eared pink, purple and grey puppets on their hands, children ran out to show their parents their scary, cute, big-eyed monsters. Covered in paint and weary with big smiles, The Little Arts Academy teachers and staff bid the children and parents farewell. See you all again next week!
